About Us

Tarzan-Diving was founded in 2021 and is named after our first dog, Tarzan. Local people tried to kill him in many different ways, leaving scars all over his body. We saved him and moved from the island. His strength and survival felt like a little miracle. Caring for a traumatized, gypsy dog took time, patience, and dedication, but seeing him become happy, trusting, loyal, and honest is simply incomparable. These same values define our dive center: creating a place where people feel safe and happy, while treating each other with honesty, loyalty, patience, and support, even in challenging times. Today, we have eight dogs. This area has no veterinarian and no access to castration or sterilization. Leaving many dogs to suffer while searching for food and love. As the Dalai Lama said, "Our prime purpose in this life is to help others, and if you can't help them, at least don't hurt them." We live by this philosophy, respecting every creature above and below the water. While we can't save them all, we believe small actions make a difference—including demonstrating positive ways to treat wildlife and sharing knowledge with local communities about caring for the environment.

Meet the Owners

Paul and Heike, owners of Tarzan-Diving, are an Indonesian-German couple who met on a liveaboard trip. Their shared passion for diving, animals, nature, music, quiet places, and the beauty of this area brought them together.

Local know-how meets European standards. We combine our knowledge of scuba diving, share our passion and offer unforgettable dive experiences with high-level standards.

Heike

PADI and EFR Instructor

Heike grew up in Germany and worked for many years as a social worker supporting children with mental health problems. Working with these children was a matter of heart, but at the same time extremely demanding. She discovered her passion for scuba diving early and spent every holiday diving around the world. Diving became the easiest way to relieve stress, clear her mind, and re-energize. In 2014, Heike took a year off to become a dive professional. Later, she integrated diving into her social work, taking children diving in German lakes and pools. Diving proved to be especially therapeutic for hyperactive and traumatized children. In 2019, she left social work and turned her hobby into a profession. Heike's strength lies in her social sphere. Discover Scuba Divers and beginners appreciate her calm leadership, while her experience, passion, and respect for diving ensure high-standard courses.

Paul

PADI Divemaster

Paul grew up in Misool, Raja Ampat, and has worked in the dive industry since 2014. Starting as a compressor operator led to his career in scuba diving, and he is now a qualified PADI Divemaster. Paul knows the area like the back of his hand. His experience and understanding of this ocean environment are truly a gift. He ensures divers are matched with dive sites that suit their level of experience, guaranteeing safety and, of course, incredible marine life encounters. There is no ultimate dive spot in Raja Ampat. What matters is being at the right place at the right tide. Paul speaks fluent English and has years of experience working as a dive guide for resorts, liveaboards, and homestays throughout Raja Ampat. His local eyes spot marine life like no other, especially our underwater macro friends. A dive experience with Paul will never disappoint.
